With the ships 'Hecla' and 'Griper,' Parry entered Lancaster Sound and sailed westward, discovering a new strait that would later bear his name. Along the way, he encountered vast glaciers calving into the sea and witnessed the astonishing sight of polar bears hunting seals on the ice floes.

Chapter 3: Parry's Second Expedition (1821-1823)

Driven by an unyielding determination, Parry embarked on a second expedition to find the Northwest Passage. This time, he took the 'Fury' and 'Hecla' into the frozen expanse of Hudson Bay. After two winters trapped in the ice, Parry's ships were severely damaged, forcing him to abandon the quest for a passage. However, his expedition made valuable scientific observations and collected extensive data on the Arctic environment.

Chapter 4: Parry's Third Expedition (1824-1825)

Undeterred by previous setbacks, Parry led a third expedition to the Arctic in 1824.
