Edited by Dr. Thomas C. Theisen

This book presents the results of a two-day conference held in Brussels in February 2020, which brought together experts from NATO member and partner countries to discuss the future of NATO science and technology.

The conference was organized by the NATO Science & Technology Board (STB) in cooperation with the NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT). The STB is the senior scientific advisory body to the North Atlantic Council, and ACT is responsible for NATO's transformation and adaptation to new challenges.

The conference covered a wide range of topics, including:

  • The changing security environment and its implications for NATO science and technology
  • Emerging technologies and their potential for NATO
  • The role of NATO science and technology in strengthening the Alliance's resilience
  • The future of NATO science and technology cooperation

The conference was a success, with over 100 participants from 20 countries. The papers presented at the conference are published in this book.

This book is an important contribution to the debate on the future of NATO science and technology. It provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges and opportunities facing the Alliance, and it offers a number of recommendations for how NATO can adapt its science and technology programs to meet these challenges.
