History of the Great Wall

The origins of the Great Wall can be traced back to the 7th century BC, during the Spring and Autumn Period. At that time, various fortified walls were built by feudal states to defend their territories from invasion. These early walls were typically constructed of rammed earth, with watchtowers and beacon towers used for communication.
